The Meals on Wheels program is looking for volunteers, ages 18 years and older, to deliver meals at least once a week from 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM.
· Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday.
· Routes are available in Binghamton, Chenango Bridge, Kirkwood, Conklin, Whitney Point, Windsor, and Harpursville. Both drivers and visitors are needed to make deliveries.
Teaming up in pairs, volunteers deliver hot and nutritious meals to approximately 400 seniors who have difficulty preparing their own meals; they also serve as a quick check on participants who often live alone. Volunteers enjoy serving Meals on Wheels participants and often make new friends among fellow volunteers. Giving their time, energy, and talents, volunteers are crucial to the provision of the Meals on Wheels service to older adults throughout the community.
If interested, stop by the open house from 10:30 a.m. to Noon, April 24-28 to see the process in action and find out more about this rewarding and fun experience. Meals on Wheels is located at the red brick carriage house at 85 Walnut St. Binghamton. For more information, call (607) 778-6205.
