Broome-Tioga Workforce New York
The EEOCO serves as the Equal Opportunity Officer (EOO) for Broome-Tioga Workforce New York responsibilities include coordinating counties obligations under 29 C.F.R. Part 37 to ensure access, nondiscrimination and equal opportunity in programs and services assisted under Title I Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA).
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program
The Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance Officer serves as the Disadvantage Business Enterprise Liaison Officer.
Aviation Concession Disadvantage Enterprise Program
As the Aviation Concession Disadvantage Business Enterprise Liaison Officer responsibilities are developing, implementing and monitoring the Aviation Concession Disadvantage Business Enterprise Program to ensure nondiscriminatory practices in projects which are funded by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Minority/Women’s Business Enterprise Officer
Responsibility of administering and promoting an active Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Program is that of Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance Officer.
Education and Training
The EEO Officer is responsible for developing education and training programs that utilizes the recommendations of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding education about Title VII of the Civil Rights of 1964 and the Americans with Disability act of 1990. The laws and regulations are introduced to management, employees and program recipients as the “spirit of the law”. This introduction provides not only the format to discuss the legal evolution of equal employment opportunity laws; it also relates the significance of these laws and regulations to the 21st century workplace environment. The human connection is made when the participants in these educational programs understand that equal employment opportunity laws are an integral part of the Constitution of the United States of America and these workplace laws are strong when “we the people” work together to ensure that all are treated with respect and dignity
Investigations
The Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance Officer is responsible for the investigation of alleged claims that equal employment opportunity laws have been violated.
