Grammy Award Winner Receives Star on Wall of Stars at Forum Theatre

(BINGHAMTON, NY) Broome County Executive Jason Garnar joined the Friends of the Forum today to announce producer, composer and musician Rick DePofi, Jr. is the most recent recipient of a star on the Wall of Fame at the Forum Theatre. 

Family of DePofi attend today’s ceremony to accept the star on his behalf. DePofi passed away in February of this year. 

“It is such an honor to again add another local music legend to the Wall of Stars in Broome County,” said Ron Sall, Chairman of the Friends of the Forum, “This is a much-deserved tribute to the talent of Rick DePofi, Jr.” 

DePofi graduated from Johnson City High School in 1975. 

He was a star producer, composer, arranger, musician and engineer. His resume was impressive, having worked with artists including Paul McCartney, Rosanne Cash, Shawn Colvin, Michelle Branch, Kelly Clarkson, Elvis Costello, Vieux Farka Toure, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, and others. He also was co-leader of New York band Mojo Mancini. 

His scoring for film, television, and documentaries included composing and arranging music for The Prince & Me, Silver City, Grey’s Anatomy, and Tony Cragg: In Celebration of Sculpture, and his music has appeared in commercials for American Express, Xerox, Duracell, Kodak, Cotton, and Dr. Pepper. 

DePofi is an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music. He was awarded the American Master Award at Berklee. This award is given to industry leaders who are committed to music education and made a positive impact on the lives of young musicians. 

DePofi is the 52nd person to be honored with a star. His father, Dick DePofi, a saxophonist, received a star on the Wall in November of 2016.
