Registration Information

To obtain a registration form, you can print the form from this site (the voter registration form), pick a form up at any postoffice, or call the board of elections at 607.778.2172 and request a form be mailed.

PRIMARY ELECTION - TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2010

Polls are open 12:00noon - 9:00pm

You must be registered in the party having a primary to be eligible to vote in a Primary Election.

Registration deadline information:

Friday, August 20, 2010 - Last day to register for the 2010 PRIMARY Election.  Registration forms must be postmarked 08/20/10 and received by 08/25/10

Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - Last day to update your address for the 2010 PRIMARY Election.  Form must be received by 5:00pm

If you are a registered voter in the party having a primary in Broome County, and have moved within the county after August 25th, please call the Election Office at 778.2172 for information on voting at your new polling place.

GENERAL ELECTION - TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2010

Polls are open 6:00am - 9:00pm

Registration deadline information:

Friday, October 8, 2010 - Last day to register for the 2010 General Election.  Registration forms must be postmarked 10/8/10 and received by 10/13/10.

Friday, October 8, 2010 - Last day to change enrollment for 2011 Elections.  Registration forms must be postmarked 10/8/10.                                                                                                               NOTE:  A change of enrollment made after this date will not take effect until after the General Election in 2011

Wednesday, October 13, 2010 - Last day to update your address for the 2010 General Election.  Form must be received by 5:00pm.

If you are a registered voter in Broome County, and have moved within the county after October 13th, please call the Election Office at 778.2172 for information on voting at your new polling place.

Absentee Ballot Information

Any registered voter who will be absent from broome county on election day, or who is ill can vote by absentee ballot.

To obtain an absentee ballot a voter must fill out an application which can be obtained from this site (absentee ballot form) or by calling the Board of Elections at 607.778.2172. The form must contain the following information:

• If you will be out of the county, your name, broome county address, phone number and date of birth, the address where you would like your ballot mailed to (if left blank it will go to your home address), the dates you will be absent from the county and where you will be. Make sure the application is signed and dated.
• If due to an illness, check either the temporary illness box or if it is a permanent illness, fill out the d section "only for permanent illness or disability" it does not need to be completed by your physician.

Monday, September 13, 2010 - Last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot

Monday, September 13, 2010 - Last day to postmark ballot.  Must be received by 09/21/10

Tuesday, October 26, 2010 - Last day to postmark an application to receive an absentee ballot by mail.

Monday, November 1, 2010 - Last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot.

Monday, November 1, 2010 - Last day to postmark ballot.  Must be received by 11/09/10.  Military Ballots must be received by 11/15/10

Mission Statement:
The Broome County Board of Elections is responsible for the honest and efficient operations of all National, State, County, City, and Local elections in our County. The Board insures that all eligible County citizens are offered an opportunity to register and vote; to maintain a complete and accurate voter file of all the registered voters in Broome County area; to insure that the integrity of the balloting process is maintained throughout Broome County; to enforce all provisions of the New York State Election Law.
