The STD clinic is a community service offered to anyone who has symptoms, is at risk for STDs or is a contact to STDs.  On the day of your visit please bring your picture ID, list of medications you currently take and proof of insurance.  Some services have a fee, however, no one will be denied testing or treatment due to lack of insurance or inability to pay.

Everything discussed in the STD Clinic, including test results, is confidential.  Nothing can be discussed with someone else without the client’s written consent. Minors (under 18 years of age) do not need parental consent to be seen.

Testing offered

We offer HIV, Hepatitis C, Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), Trichomonias, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, yeast infection (candidiasis) and urethritis testing. We also culture genital herpes (HSV).
You will get the results of some of your testing the day of your exam.  Some testing requires approximately one week for results to return.

Treatment offered

Once a diagnosis is made, medication or a prescription is given. Instructions are given on how to take medicine and prevent re-infection. Recommendations on partner treatment are given.  Staff is also available to help with partner notification.
Vaccinations offered: Hepatitis A & B, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine.

Interview and Exam

A confidential interview by a professional staff member includes asking about the client’s symptoms, their sexual activities and other information important to the diagnosis of STDs.  Our staff is also available to answer questions you may have about your sexual health.

Female Exam includes discussion of symptoms and health risks, skin evaluation for STD related lesions (for example: genital herpes or warts) and pelvic exam and collection of samples for testing.

Male exam includes discussion of symptoms and health risks, skin evaluation for STD related lesions (for example: genital herpes or warts) and urine sample collected (basic urinalysis is performed)

Forms of Payment:

Health Insurance: We will bill your insurance only if you give us consent to bill.  If you would like us to bill your health insurance, please bring your insurance card.

Please know that if insurance is billed, insurance companies are required to send an “Explanation of Benefits” (EOB) to the primary insurance holder’s address.  This may be you, your spouse, parent/guardian, or domestic partner.  If you don’t want an EOB to go to this person, you can instead pay a fee based on your income.  Medicaid does not mail out EOBs.

Sliding Scale: If you don’t have insurance or don’t wish your insurance to be billed you can pay a fee based on your income.  If you have no income you can sign a waiver to avoid charges.

If you want to know how much a visit might cost, call us at (607) 778-2839.  NO ONE WILL BE DENIED SERVICES FOR LACK OF INSURANCE OR INABILITY TO PAY.
